The First Amendment guarantees freedom of association. This is an obstacle in enabling “common sense gang laws”. If New York treated the First Amendment like they do the Second Amendment then anti-gang legislation would include the following:

No new social organizations having more than seven members would be legal. Existing organizations of eight to ten members would be still be legal but no more than seven members could be in the same room at any one time. Existing organizations of greater than ten member would have the option of moving out of state or turning themselves into the police for Soylent Green feedstock.

Be mindful of the company in which you say such things. Some will think it’s a great idea. Not that they havben’t thought of it already, but being purely social creatures, hearing it from someone else emboldens them.

Today’s jokes, or sarcasms, are tomorrow’s serious proposals.

      • All the world’s a stage, right? We know the script. We’ve seen this play before. The question is; will we be willing actors, or can we find a way to step out of the role?

Fear is part of the script, by the way. You have the script– Read your lines. It’s right in there next to envy, power-lust and rage. Some of the actors get mad at each other, while other actors fear the consequences of all that anger, but practically every one of us is playing a pre-written role.
