Quote of the day—Louis Michael Seidman

As the nation teeters at the edge of fiscal chaos, observers are reaching the conclusion that the American system of government is broken. But almost no one blames the culprit: our insistence on obedience to the Constitution, with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions.

  1. With suggestions like that being taken seriously, let’s just cut out the turmoil of the years under a completely leftist, irreligious world and go directly to Sharia now. There’s no use fighting teh stupid.

Yes, but “…archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions” are not defined. It doesn’t really matter though. We know that there is hatred for the very founding of the U.S. and that’s it’s being taught in our public schools and universities. The rationalizations used are practically irrelevant.

I point out that many of the Libertarians, particularly a subset of the more strident Ron Paul supporters, aren’t functionally much different. Talking with some of them, it becomes clear that they’re more nihilist than anything else, or they’re more interested in being smarter than everyone else than in being able to apply principles in a practical system. I can’t get a single one of them to tell me how we don’t end up losing W.W. II using their system, for example. Some people prefer to be victims though too. It helps them cope with their own personal problems.
