Your tax dollars at work

2 Seattle men stopped at border for illegal candy:

The agency warned on its website around Easter that the treats can’t be imported legally.

The agency says it seized more than 60,000 Kinder Eggs from travelers’ baggage and international mail shipments in fiscal 2011.

60,000 pieces of “illegal” candy were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection workers last year? That must mean they have stopped all the people entering our country illegally and now have nothing better to do but sit around all day and eat stolen candy.

I need a new frontier.

  1. Good to know… will have to eat the chocolate eggs and assemble the toys on the Canadian side of the border when we come back to the US in August…

  2. Are Kinder Eggs those chocolate eggs a bit smaller than a standard grocery store chicken egg with a toy inside?
This is now illegal? No wonder I haven’t seen them for a couple of years. Never mind the border patrol agents — with our economy in a shambles and no budget brought by the House of Representatives since the last Bush budget, our elected representatives have nothing better to do with our time than make these things illegal?
Ayn Rand was right, you can’t catch criminals, the only hope is to make criminals out of honest men, so they, with no experience being criminals can be caught most easily with less personal risk.

  3. Wendy, those are, indeed, kinder eggs.

Now, there are still a few stores you can find them at. My friend’s encounter went like this:

“Hey, cool, kinder eggs! I thought these were illegal, I guess not!”

    *GLARE*

  4. The sweets police, they live inside of my head.
The sweets police, they come to me in my bed.
The sweets police, they’re coming to arrest me, oh no.

  5. The streets of America are a safer place now that this menace will no longer inflict its dastardly influnance on our youth. Old ladies can sleep soundly knowing DHS is on the job. @$$HOLE$ everypone of them!

  6. I can’t believe how callous all of you are about this issue. As Windy Wilson stated, Kinder eggs are a food product with a toy inside. A toy big enough, if swallowed, would result in certain death for all but those of us with the biggest esophagi; and even for the biggest of throats, the toys would certainly wreak havok in the intestines.

By all means, these hideous booby-traps should be banned! Just look at all the dead bodies that litter Europe and Canada because of these things*! Heck, ever since these United States banned them, we haven’t had a single death from these hideous things! Thus, the law must be working!!! Right?

*(To the best of my knowledge, there hasn’t been a single death from these things. Heck, if my memory serves me well–and it might not–these toy capsules are a bit too large to swallow.)
