Quote of the day—David E. Petzal

In order to keep his rifle, the owner of the M-1 took it to a gunsmith who milled off the bayonet lug and then sent a letter, along with a copy of his FFL, to the License Division, Rifle & Shotgun Section, stating that the work had been done. Amputating the bayonet lug has, of course, destroyed any value the rifle had as a collector’s piece, and the owner will not, of course, be compensated.

And if you listened very carefully, you could hear “reasonable” and “sense” shrieking as they thrashed in their death struggles.

  1. Just be glad he wasn’t in possession of a Big Gulp! After all, NYPD has nothing better to do than to go after whatever piece of Insanity this Idiot Bloomberg has come up with today.

  2. I’ll be ready to talk about reasonable and sensible gun laws when the gun control folks are ready to talk about repealing the unreasonable nonsense we have now. As far as I’m concerned that would include repealing the federal laws from the NFA of 1934 to the present, as well as all state and local restrictions that grew out of slave codes and Jim Crow.

  3. I guess the “good” news is that the part that was altered is easily replaced. Which makes me wonder why he didn’t get a new one to cut up to preserve the value of having an all original gun while complying with the idiotic law.

Not that I think that he should have had to do it in the first place, but he’s living where he has to.
