Quote of the day–Mao Tse-tung

Every Communist must grasp the truth, “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party. Yet, having guns, we can create Party organizations, as witness the powerful Party organizations which the Eighth Route Army has created in northern China. We can also create cadres, create schools, create culture, create mass movements. Everything in Yenan has been created by having guns. All things grow out of the barrel of a gun. According to the Marxist theory of the state, the army is the chief component of state power. Whoever wants to seize and retain state power must have a strong army. Some people ridicule us as advocates of the “omnipotence of war”. Yes, we are advocates of the omnipotence of revolutionary war; that is good, not bad, it is Marxist. The guns of the Russian Communist Party created socialism. We shall create a democratic republic. Experience in the class struggle in the era of imperialism teaches us that it is only by the power of the gun that the working class and the labouring masses can defeat the armed bourgeoisie and landlords; in this sense we may say that only with guns can the whole world be transformed.

PROBLEMS OF WAR AND STRATEGY
[I have used part of this quote before but never the full context. I think this adds a great deal. It’s about the requirement that Marxists control the guns to obtain and keep political power.

While it is true that not all gun-grabbers are Marxist every communist must grasp the truth… And it is for this reason that every gun-grabber must be suspected and carefully examined for communist intentions.—Joe]

  1. The Chairman did understand power, and he pretty much laid it out in the little red book. Scary stuff, read it in ’70 I’ve not been without arms since.

  2. It matters not what form of evil they espouse, the gun grabbers only come in two flavors. In my experience, they either want to take my gun so that they can do some evil to my person, or they are so naive as too believe they can make a more peaceful country by disarming the lawful. In my experience the government gun grabbers have always been power hungry, and the naive are most dangerous at the ballet box.

  3. Kind of lays it all out more clearly than the current batch of Marxist-Leninist thugs would care to, doesn’t it?

They’d have absolute convulsions if they were to view the annual meeting of that Swiss Canton where the voting men bring a sword as proof of their right to vote, and as a symbol that the power rests with them, not with the elected masters.

  4. Marxism and anything related to it (any form of central planning) is based on rule by force. In a word; Coercion.

They can dress it up any which way, coming up with a thousand rationalizations, but brute force is always the objective. Couple all that with the Eugenics movement and those who supported it worldwide and you have the recipe for mass death. “Who needs all those ‘non-productive’ people anyway, right? If they don’t go along with The Program, then disposing of them is good for Mankind… Hell; we’re doing them a favor by killing them.”

Mao was being somewhat honest about it. That’s exceedingly rare by today’s standards, but looking at it in context; in 1938 there was a lot of talk like that floating around openly and without shame. Mussolini and Hitler were fairly popular in the U.S. at that time, and FDR referred to Stalin as “Uncle Joe”. All peas in a pod as far as I’m concerned.
