I was updating the Boomershoot links page (about half the links were dead) and I found the stats on the last Gateway Colorado Dynamite Shoot:
WHAT A BLAST!!
With 198 shooters, 172 charges exploded!!
[sarcasm]I must be doing it wrong. We go through about 1500 targets and only get about 120 shooters.[/sarcasm]
Wonder how many targets were hit to get 172 detonations?
Kinda along the lines of Defens, maybe Colorado shooters don’t shoot as straight as Boomershooters and therefore and equitable number of targets for a days worth of shooting has naturally occurred? Just sayin’
@Tim, The Gateway event is done much differently. They take turns shooting at a limited number of targets. We put out a much larger number of targets and a dozens of people shoot at the same time.
They also say that EVERY ONE of their targets explodes. I have a hard time believing that.
They do a fund raiser though, where you shoot twice, and if you hit it, you split the prize money for the target with the fire department. That would be an interesting way to raise money! If you miss, you go to the back of the line, pay your money again, and hope no one hits the target before you get the chance.
I could see some very interesting competitions at lunchtime on Friday and Saturday for fund raising!
So, it’s run more like a Tennessee hill country turkey shoot, then?
