Quote of the day—Sebastian

It’s probably a lot easier to sleep at night if you think you’re fighting evil corporations, rather than merely being a sour busybody inserting your nose into the personal business of millions and millions of fellow Americans.

An Interview with Josh Horwitz
[Horwitz is the Executive Director of Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence. Yeah. You would have never heard of him or his organizations if you weren’t active in the gun owner rights movement.

As Sebastian hints at these people either cannot believe and/or want to make others believe that gun ownership is driven by “evil gun companies wanting to make a profit”. That people actual believe that they have a right to own firearms and would want do so without the influence of “corporate interests” is nearly unthinkable to them.—Joe]

  1. Hmm…and where is the oppressive advertising that the evil profit-driven gun companies use?
The hit-you-up-side-the-head, 24/7 total saturation advertising that you simply must buy a gun, and right now!

I see a bit of gun advertising in magazines that cater to the target audience of gun owners and ads on the few TV gun shows and a bit on pro-gun websites, but that is it. Really.

Nothing like Coca Cola buying Superbowl ad space or the Direct to Consumer (DTC) pharmaceutical company infomercials.

Where exactly is the vast gun wing conspiracy that holds some 80 million Americans in its sway?
Is Josh Horwitz this pathetic and disconnected from reality? Seems so…

  2. There has to be something severely mentally wrong with ANYBODY who supports gun control given how the evidence and support lies, be they paid Joyce Shills like Josh, or half-witted trolls like Ubu52.

  3. Excellent quote, Sebastian! Straight to the heart of the matter. I assumed however that it was referring to the Wall Street protestors, and to the left in general. It took me a while to understand why Joe was talking about guns, but then the quote makes perfect sense no matter the subject.

I used to be admonished for associating gun control with the political left. Anyone remember those days? We weren’t supposed to offend pro-gun leftists. Now it’s hard to tell any difference between leftist and anti-gun, being as there isn’t any, and there never has been. Some people may pick and choose between various rights, but an ideology of central planning and control ultimately cannot abide the keeping and bearing of arms.

The only rights the leftist ideology truly recognize are the “rights” of government to control the people. As Obama put it so succinctly– the Bill of Rights is a bill of negative rights. That’s why they get so bent– we’re trying to take away their “rights”.

Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking this can be resolved by mutual agreement. There is no common ground between thinking that government has the right to control, impede and redistribute, and thinking that We The People hold the rights. That’s a war right there, see. Anti-American verses American. The only “agreement” comes along the lines of, “Do this, don’t do that, or else!”
“OK, I agree.” But most people don’t want to be bothered with thoughts of such unpleasantness.
