One of my Idaho Outfitter friends hunted a group of out-of-state elk archery hunters from the Great Lakes region last week and they called in a pack of 17 wolves by cow calling. None of the hunters had a sidearm or wolf tag and it was a very traumatic experience as the wolves surrounded the hunters! All hunters went home early very disturbed claiming these wolves are very different from the Great Lakes wolves as they claimed these Idaho wolves actually “Hunt” you and were not afraid!
Note she is wearing gloves! We saw almost no gloves 2 years ago!

This wolf came running toward Rene last night to attack her. She had to drop her bow & pull her pistol. She shot it in the head about 10 feet from her. She had to shoot it a couple more times to actually kill it. CRAZY! This – not even a week after Shane’s dogs were killed by wolves.
It’s not just archers that should carry a sidearm. Wife Barbara saw one while taking pictures near the Selway river last year.
Where in ID? And what chambering?
We are well reminded to keep our sidearms with us at all times, and carry a sufficient chambering with sufficient loads.
That dog is HUGE. Glad she had the presence of mind to put it down. Is she in any legal heat over the kill?
@Melody, I don’t know for certain that one was in Idaho. I put everything I know about the event in the post. You now know as much as I do.

My philosophy about wolves is the same as yotes. The only good one is a dead one.
I have heard about them coming across the Idaho, Washington border too, especially further south towards the Blues. When someone tells me the wolf shouldn’t be hunted it’s obvious they have surrendered their location on the food chain. I have not and there is no doubt the see us as nothing more than a steak dinner.
They’ve wrecked the elk herds, destroyed other parts of the eco system, yet PETA and environmentalists want us to just sit around with our thumbs up our asses while they start moving on to people. It’s insanity.
My friend Russ is a hunting guide in Montana and according to him the local sheriff and game wardens have what they call the “Three S” policy on wolves/yotes: shoot, shovel, shut the hell up!
Two corrections. The wolf I saw was on the Selway River. The wolves transplanted into Idaho and Montana were not the original type that lived here but Alaskan wolves that are larger and more vicious.

These, don’t forget, are the same people with the “Thank You For Not Breeding” and the “Save an Elk, Kill a Land Developer” bumper stickers I’ve seen around Moscow for years. “Don’t Pave Paradise” is one of the more common, and they’re handed out by the same crowd. Add two and two, and we get the conclusion that anything resulting in the retardation of human activity is a good thing in the eyes of the left. Read the list of demands from the guy who attacked the Discovery Channel headquarters a while back, and you’ll get a rare, honest picture of the thinking process, such as it is. It says, in short; humans are the real vermin. Here’s the whole thing;
“1. The Discovery Channel and it’s affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn’s “My Ishmael” pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other’s inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!
2. All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.
3. All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Again, solutions solutions instead of just repeating the same old wars with newer weapons. Also, keep out the fraudulent peace movements. They are liars and fakes and had no real intention of ending the wars. ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE! On one hand, they claim they want the wars to end, on the other, they are demanding the human population increase. World War II had 2 Billion humans and after that war, the people decided that tripling the population would assure peace. WTF??? STUPIDITY! MORE HUMANS EQUALS MORE WAR!
4. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! This is your obligation. If you think it isn’t, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil! It is the moral obligation of everyone living otherwise what good are they??
5. Immigration: Programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that. Find solutions to stopping it. Call for people in the world to develop solutions to stop it completely and permanently. Find solutions FOR these countries so they stop sending their breeding populations to the US and the world to seek jobs and therefore breed more unwanted pollution babies. FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THEM TO STOP THEIR HUMAN GROWTH AND THE EXPORTATION OF THAT DISGUSTING FILTH! (The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!)
6. Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don’t build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!
7. Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people’s brains until they get it!!
8. Saving the Planet means saving what’s left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! You’re the media, you can reach enough people. It’s your resposibility because you reach so many minds!!!
9. Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy. Find solutions for their disasterous Ponzi-Casino economy before they take the world to another nuclear war.
10. Stop all shows glorifying human birthing on all your channels and on TLC. Stop Future Weapons shows or replace the dialogue condemning the people behind these developments so that the shows become exposes rather than advertisements of Arms sales and development!
11. You’re also going to find solutions for unemployment and housing. All these unemployed people makes me think the US is headed toward more war.
Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what’s left of the planet with their false morals and breeding culture.
For every human born, ACRES of wildlife forests must be turned into farmland in order to feed that new addition over the course of 60 to 100 YEARS of that new human’s lifespan! THIS IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FOREST CREATURES!!!! All human procreation and farming must cease!
It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices. Children represent FUTURE catastrophic pollution whereas their parents are current pollution. NO MORE BABIES! Population growth is a real crisis. Even one child born in the US will use 30 to a thousand times more resources than a Third World child. It’s like a couple are having 30 babies even though it’s just one! If the US goes in this direction maybe other countries will too!
Also, war must be halted. Not because it’s morally wrong, but because of the catastrophic environmental damage modern weapons cause to other creatures. FIND SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS! Humans are supposed to be inventive. INVENT, DAMN YOU!!
The world needs TV shows that DEVELOP solutions to the problems that humans are causing, not stupify the people into destroying the world. Not encouraging them to breed more environmentally harmful humans.
Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.
The humans? The planet does not need humans.
You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!
I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it.

I like having wolves and I like having coyotes. But they need to be shot at for improving the IQ of the population of each. Shot at often.
Wolves are wolves. They are neither slavering, man-eating, must be annihilated beasts or loving, fluffy, innocent, big puppies. Wolves can and ought to live, and can and ought to be shot. People who think a wolf will never kill a person are insane. People who think wolves kill only for food are insane. People who think wolves ought to be completely exterminated are insane. Tadaa!
Heather, in my opinion, non-native species that threaten the balance of the ecosystem can be hunted to extinction without care. The biggest problem is non-native species can never be fully eradicated, just ask Australia. It gets double compounded when hunting is all out prevented and stopped.
Note the wolf that currently exists in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming was introduced by the federal government after being relocated from well out of the area. It is not biologically similar to the supposed wolf that went extinct in the area. To further compound the problem the natural instincts of the animal don’t match the environment. The amount of prey the wolf takes down is considerably larger since the environment isn’t cold enough to preserve the carcass. If you want the wolf back, come and take them, but down here the only good wolf is a dead wolf.

When I was working in Alberta Canada for Schlumberger geo science in 94/95 a bunch of wolves were tagged and bagged in an area near where we had our staging area. Those same wolves left us a few bone piles each evening in that same area. They make quick work of most animals, these were moose corpses. I think the only reason they didn’t take a liking to us was the fact there were plenty of swamp donkeys and we outnumbered them 2:1 though us humans lack sufficient tools for fighting back…
I’m not sure that there is scientific evidence that these wolves are genetically diverse from the original wolves in the area. But there is no genetic difference between Alaskan Brown Bears and Grizzlies of the Rockies, and yet Alaskan Browns are much larger and more aggressive.
Regardless, the numbers are out of proportion.
We now have wolf sightings fairly regularly in the southern Columbia Basin, and many of my rancher friends, (who are VERY familiar with coyotes, their size and actions) report that they now see the occasional lone wolf around their herds, and have seen tracks far too large for coyotes.
No packs, so these wolves are probably solitary males, booted from packs and making their way out of their home territories.
I myself saw my first wolf in the wild in Central Oregon this past May. He was within 30 yards of me, while I was driving on the highway. I actually stopped, turned around, and went back. He moved a few yards farther away as I drove back, but everyone in my vehicle got a chance to see him. The light wasn’t good enough for pictures, but he certainly was NOT a coyote. He finally ran off with that distinctive wolf lope.
They are here, and they are doing well.
Anyone who has heard a wolf howl KNOWS beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are an APEX predator, with only 2 natural enemies, bears and men, everything else is prey!
