Quote of the day—Thomas Sowell

Egalitarians create the most dangerous inequality of all — inequality of power. Allowing politicians to determine what all other human beings will be allowed to earn is one of the most reckless gambles imaginable. Like the income tax, it may start off being applied only to the rich but it will inevitably reach us all.

Thomas Sowell
[I really like this. It translates into a “sound bite” rebuttal. Those that advocate for the equalization of outcomes cannot implement such a system without creating an inequality of power.-Joe]

  1. He’s right on track, but I take issue with his use of the term “reckless gamble”. I don’t think that this can be referred to as a gamble, as opposed to a sure thing.

Once you have such an infrastructure of coercive power you have a guaranteed result– mass destruction.

It could be argued that that is its sole purpose, its rationalizations along the way notwithstanding.

The rationalizations are key– it can’t live and take shape without them. They are the little bits of poison (they taste so sweet and make us feel so good about ourselves) that make up the giant, deadly system.
