Quote of the day—Angela Mapes Turner

Former three-term Fort Wayne Mayor Paul Helmke said Thursday he’ll step down July 10 as president of the Brady Campaign and the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Helmke to leave Brady Center–Former mayor undecided about next step
[I have been wondering why he continued to stay on when we have them outnumbered, outsmarted, out financed, and of course (literally) outgunned. It turns out he gave them a five year commitment when he signed on. July 10th is the end of that commitment.

They are going to find it difficult to get someone to replace him with the current political climate. I think they should just close up shop and say, “I’m sorry, we were wrong.”—Joe]

  1. I dunno, doesn’t he make something like $250k/year? I think that could buy a lot of antidepressants for whoever takes his place.

  2. I don’t think they can afford to pay that much anymore. And with them being DC based the cost of living is really high as well.

  3. Paul Helmke, the rabidly anti-gun zealot who chaired the Brady Campaign suddenly resigned yesterday. He was previously meeting with Obama to try and enact further gun restrictions “under the radar”. Could the truth about the Gunwalker scandal, coupled with his sudden departure be somehow related?

I would love to see that too, but really, have you ever seen a communist, statist, progressive….. errr bigot, apologize or admit they were wrong?

  5. He’s probably either running for office, or Obama promised him that he’ll assign him as a new cabinet level “Gun Czar”. Or maybe he’s going to be a new “gun attache” to Mexico.

These assholes always land on their feet, a bigger thorn in the side than ever before.

  6. I’ll do it!

Heck, I’ll do that job for a lot less than what he’s charging.

Ultimately, there’s nothing utterly incompatible with our position and the at least notionally stated position they hold. We’re opposed to gun violence too, right? I mean, I’m pretty sure no one here actually cheers for drive by shootings, etc. 😀

    See, I’d be great!
