Steel Challenge results

Today I shot in a Steel Challenge match at the Lewiston Pistol Club. With Boomershoot consuming my time for the previous couple of months and the timing of my visits to Idaho not coincident with the match schedules it has been a long time since I shot in a match.

I messed up one stage and that hurt my overall results badly:

Notice the top two positions are the same guy shooting an auto loader and a revolver? It just goes to show you it is the shooter/training not the gun that makes the biggest difference in the outcome of a shooting match. Also, I am pretty sure Roger is the oldest shooter. What does that tell you given that I am in my mid-50s?

  1. Well, given that he only smoked you on two stages out of five, and you had him faded on one… I think it says more about your skill even without the practice.

Not taking anything away from Roger, who clearly shot a great match, twice.

God knows, after a couple months not shooting stages, my times always went to crap much worse than that.

  2. KeeWee and I will have to try and sneak out for a short break and make it to one of your steel matches, one when you will be there, of course! We could come over in our Mini-RV and hang out for the weekend and shoot, too.

Can you shoot rimfire optic guns there? Don’t care if I’m even officially entered or scored, but would like to shoot the steel for the fun of it.

Pendulum is truly a “Survival” stage ,isn’t it? You know in advance that if you miss, it will be one of the 10″ plates, so you try to concentrate on not missing the 10 inchers, and you do it anyway……

  3. When I go to a match everyone gets an automatic +1 to their rank.

  4. @Mike, Let me know when might work for you and I’ll coordinate schedules such that we can do a Boomershoot private party too.
