Quote of the day—Chuck Schumer

We’re not interested in curtailing the rights of gun owners…

Mayor Bloomberg scolds nation for not standing up to gun lobby
[I choked when I read that even though I wasn’t drinking anything.

To get a better idea of Schumer’s interest you need a little background. Here is a good example:

We’re here to tell the NRA their nightmare is true!. We’re going to hammer guns on the anvil of relentless legislative strategy! We’re going to beat guns into submission!

  1. Upchuck Schumer is directly responsible for curtailing more of the rights of gun owners than most people on Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, his constituents must like it–there’s no way I’d ever vote for him.

  2. As they said back in my Elementary school days:

    Liiiar Liiiiiiiar Paaaaannnnts on fiiiiiirrrrreeeee!

I find it appropriate, as that is about the lever of emotional maturity Chuckles displays.

  3. At this point, I think we can just go ahead and start writing his name: “Chuck ‘Lying Sack of Sh!t’ Schumer”

  4. The gun lobby has very little effect on legislation–the gun lobby being the lobby for gun industries.

The gun owners’ lobby is a different story. Not surprising; there are 100 million gun owners in America, so it would be surprising if they did not exert influence on gun-related legislation.

Calling the NRA the gun lobby is a deliberate attempt to imply a lie without stating it outright: the lie being that gun legislation is driven by industries seeking profits, rather than by individual free Americans seeking Constitutional rights.

  5. Not at all a balanced article, but what do you expect?

I thought the poll at the right was particularly indicative of the bias. The two options imply that you would either be against guns because you are concerned about crime, or in favor of guns purely for cultural or historical reasons. Which straw man will you vote for?
