It was just this reason that we have politicians proposing new restrictions on the specific enumerated right to keep and bear arms. The Tucson shooting was “the right pressure” to cause them to violate known and accepted principles in the Bill of Rights. What we must do is apply “the right pressure” in the other direction.

I’m all for polygamy myself. Can’t see the state regulating marriage in any form as a good thing.
In fact, I would be happy to see the State out of the marriage business entirely. Turning marriage into just another form of contract law engaged by private parties.
And may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount, more than we are prepared to admit, but all new ratings are warned that if they wake up in the morning and find toothmarks at all anywhere on their bodies, they’re to tell me immediately so that I can immediately take every measure to hush the whole thing up.
