Quote of the day—Winston Churchill

I have only one purpose, the destruction of Hitler, and my life is much simplified, thereby. If Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favorable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons.

Winston Churchill
[Currently my main purpose outside family life is the destruction of gun regulations and my life is much simplified. I may not find much else in common with homosexuals, homophobes, or Christian Fundamentalists but I embrace their efforts to defeat gun control in the courts, the legislature, and our culture. To do otherwise would be to weaken our position and perhaps even enable the defeat our cause.—Joe]

  1. In a contemporary light, there are plenty of names out there that would suffice in the stead of Hitler.

  2. The benefits of alliance on a single issue, with groups otherwise in opposition or of indifference to your beliefs, include development of working relationships with those groups that can in turn lead to good faith discussions regarding the points of difference between your beliefs and theirs. This ability to respectfully disagree is arguably better than just disliking each others’ beliefs, without further engagement, or working with deep negative animus on both sides.

Oddly, this does not work with Joan Peterson and others like her, who are incapable of arguing honestly, or collaborating rationally, with those whose positions do not align with theirs. So ‘eff them.

  3. While I enjoy many of the bloggers and gun rights activists I meet (Joe included ) there are certainly some members of our cadre whom I personally don’t care for. The same can be said about coworkers.

In the end if you seek a common goal with me, and don’t seek to harm me and mine, you are an ally, plain-and-simple. Why split hairs and make the tent smaller?

Heck that’s what the anits want when they attempt to devide and conquer. That was how the ’94 AWB passed, by getting the duck and deer hunters to turn on the sport and defensive shooters.

I don’t want that to happen again!
