Quote of the day—D.H. Lawrence

Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves.

D.H. Lawrence
[Some say we are quickly approaching the slave state. Others say we have already arrived.—Joe]

  1. Well, after what I saw and did at the Northcoast Blogshoot, combined with the events at Knob Creek, and other shooting “Parties” that occurred this weekend, those who want to enslave us and take our guns away better think long and hard before trying to implement their Suicidal Philosophy. I know one little 9 year old lady who’ll make a few wish they hadn’t tried to take that M1 Carbine from her hands.

  2. I tend to believe it is just about here, no matter what that blithering idiot of a troll (MikeB) says.

“It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the ‘right’ to education, the ‘right’ to health care, the ‘right’ to food and housing. That’s not freedom, that’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.”

  3. MikeB302000,

In the last two years we have had the government take over major portions of the banking industry, the automobile industry, and the health care industry. Had anyone said that would happen by late 2010 in early 2008 they would have been considered a candidate for the paranoid pen at the funny farm. The more government control the less free we are.

As far as the guns I suggest you check out laws in California, Chicago, New Jersey, and number of other political jurisdictions. See if they would allow me to keep possession of my AR-15 and normal capacity magazines even if I was just stopping in for a short visit. Find out how many jurisdictions would allow me to keep the semi-auto pistol I normally carry on my hip (including right now) with the normal capacity 18 round magazine. It turns out that most of the firearms I own would be confiscated in one or more states or cities in this country even if I consented to my firearms being registered–which I don’t.

But as we already know, you are unable to determine truth from falsity so the facts such as those don’t really matter to you.

  4. @MikeB302000: About a year ago I was trying to figure out how I could work more hours, so that I could pay down debts. On the one hand, it turned out that I couldn’t, because of health reasons on my part, and stress reasons on my wife’s part. On the other hand, it was impractical: I’d have to find a second job, because our All-Benevolent Gumment has made it Very Difficult to work extra hours for my current employer, and actually make money doing so.

It’s for the Children, I guess.

In any case, mark me up as one who wonders if we’re already a slave state, and one who already knows the difference between Liberty and liberties.

(Before you complain that I couldn’t do it anyway: the first cause is due to Limits of Nature, which we all face, and we all have to deal with in our own ways; the second cause, however, are Arbitrary Limits Imposed By Man, and should not have been an issue at all.)
