Quote of the day—John Lott

Bill Landes and I have examined all the multiple-victim public shootings with two or more victims in the United States from 1977 to 1999. We found that when states passed right-to-carry laws, these attacks fell by an astounding 60 percent. Deaths and injuries from multiple-victim public shootings fell on average by 78 percent. And to the extent that these attacks still occur in states with right-to-carry laws, they overwhelming occur in those few places where concealed handguns are not allowed. Gun free zones served as magnets for these attacks.

The desire to ban guns is understandable, but it is dangerous, too.  If we won’t hang “Gun-Free Zone” signs around our homes, let’s not hang them around our schools or other places we care about either.

Why Gun Bans Still Don’t Work
[“Gun free” zones are victim disarmament zones. Let’s get rid of as many of these death traps as we can.—Joe]

  1. The left, of course, will not accept these analyses. To them … and their fellow gun banners, the results of Lott’s work do not jibe with their own world view.

Up here … in the Great White North … we’ve institutionalized the whole liberal baggage about firearms. Granted, we have nothing approaching a written constitutional right. Still, we retain the right to defend ourselves … if not our property. This, naturally, is a useless right if we do not possess the means for such a defense.

    I’m glad you’re spreading Lott’s word.

    Regards.

I’ll say that the desire to ban guns is understandable alright, because it’s dangerous. Think Alinksy. Think Cloward and Piven. Think “collapsing ‘The System’ into another system”. Think creating chaos, mistrust and demoralization. The concept of victim disarmament fits rather nicely into that strategy, no?

So what we have right here is deprivation of rights under color of law, resulting in the death of innocents. Enter 18 USC 242.

The socialist revolutionaries who’ve infiltrated our society have been feeling pretty cocky lately, but they’re skating on thin ice.

George; I have it on good authority that there are a lot of hidden wall cavaties, hidden safes, and holes in the ground, at least in Western Canada. I wouldn’t be to worried about the citizens’ capabilities in those parts.

  3. One first good step (and a necessary one) is to change the environment that our laws are made in. With some real change in our legislatures repealing these laws becomes possible. Luckily, we have that opportunity! And here in Washington “A” rated candidate Dino Rossi has a real chance to take out “F” rated Patty Murray and help make change for the good back in DC. Dino’s candidate page is http://www.dinorossi.com/ -Boyd

(but hopefully y’all already knew all that)

  4. The Right to protect ourselves is exactly that, a right!

    All Those politicians, forming coalitions
