Gun cartoon of the day

And the artist thinks the police and military train with live human targets?

Or does the artist think my ability to hit steel targets with a shotgun would not translate well to a zombie (or illegal gang) attack?

I think the artist is just a bigot trying to mock gun owners–some of whom practice with cheap targets.

  1. I’m willing to think this is merely meant to be absurd. Unless there’s a deeper context for the cartoon, it looks like a rip-off of the old Far Side cartoon where a Karate class saves the earth from an invasion of pine board creatures.

  2. It reminds me of a Far Side cartoon too! I think it’s hysterical! 🙂

  3. They’re attempting a catch-22. The antis always rattle on about how people shouldn’t be able to own guns unless they’re properly trained…and then lampoon people who take the time to hone their skill. Or maybe just lampooning people who have found a good and cheap method of training, vs. expensive classes that essentially teach the same skills…this will keep “undesirable” people from owning and carrying guns…like poor people, minorities, and people who live near Ubu52.

The anti-side is full of them, as they know they lack support in outright bans, so they play catch 22 games, like banning “armor piercing ammo” (Defined: any ammo without a lead core) and then go and ban “Toxic Ammo” (Defined, ammo with a lead core)

  4. I’d have to agree with tdkerry on this: if the cartoon isn’t a blatant ripoff, then this and Gary Larson came up with similar ideas at the same time. You could really insert any pair into this mix — invasions of silhouette-looking creatures with police officers and soldiers saying “This is it! We’ve been training for this event our entire lives!”, or punching bag aliens vs. boxers, or even traffic-cone monsters vs. frustrated student drivers…
