How to get the answer you want

When I was in college at the University of Idaho I remember fellow electrical engineering student Marget M. (her father happened to be one of my favorite EE professors) explain “The Fudge Function” as was sometimes used in the labs by students who didn’t get the correct results. “You multiply by zero and add the correct answer”, she said.

Jeff explains how the Brady Campaign does it.

  1. Not unlike “dry labbing” in chemistry classes. Start with the correct answer on paper, than go backwards making up correct data to duplicate a four hour lab experiment in a half hour.

  2. Not unlike what we used to call “Walker’s Constant” – that number, which, when added to, subtracted from, divided into, or multiplied by the number you HAVE, gives you the number that you WANT.

Maybe we should rename it the “Brady Constant”.
