Quote of the day–Sebastian

Peter Hamm is here. It’s cold out. Maybe I should be a nice guy and get the Brady folks some @starbucks.

A post on Twitter.
[That is very funny but just a little bit on the rude side given the current context of Starbucks. And to the best of my knowledge Sebastian did not follow through on this thought.

I know I’m very harsh with them on this blog but that would not extend to my personal interactions with them. My fight with them is over their advocation of anti-gun policies. Not with them personally. This is not to say I would invite them into my house (unless there were some sort of emergency that my failure to do so put them at risk of personal injury or extreme discomfort).–Joe]

  1. I dunno, I personally see the Brady Folks and Mercenaries and whores intentionally doing wrong. I mean they’ve read all the same reports, papers, and statistics we have, and yet they continue on their course, and cash their very nice checks.

I mean do you think it’s wrong to hate the Klan, but give a Pass to Nathan Bedford Forrest?
Is it OK to Hate Nazism, but give a Pass to Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler, et al?
Is it OK to dislike the oversteps of the federal government, but give Lon Horiuchi a pass because he was following orders and being paid for his acts?

Now none of this is to say that I think anybody should take any physical or potentially illegal actions against members of the anti-gun lobby, but I will say that while some of the lower-level people might be ignorant of the issues that they press, the upper echelon knows damn well what they are doing, and what the costs are, and because of that I feel the same respect for them personally, on or off the job, as I do for their bigoted causes.

  2. I’m with Weer’d.

I see no problem whatsoever with being rude to people who’s sole intention is to infringe upon the rights and liberties of their fellow countrymen…who have demonstrated a willingness to stoop to any level to forward their agenda including slander, obfuscation and outright lies.

These are not honorable people with whom we simply have a disagreement, their actions daily prove that they are dishonorable and are beneath respect.

  3. I don’t see the point in being rude to them or teaseing them.

Sure, I would encourage their prosecution and would help build the case against them. But I wouldn’t taunt them in their cell.

  4. I am with you. I would help them. AFTER a background check and a 5 day waiting period.

  5. Hi Joe,

I just thought your board would be interested in this factoid. It kind of blew my mind. Did you know Portugal legalized all drugs in 2001! Talk about MSM keeping things quiet, this is a western country. A report was written about it for Time. The only reason I even know this is that CSPAN’s Book TV had some author on who made reference to it.

It reminds me of the secret fact that crime did not go up after guns were made legal to carry in Florida. People are always stunned to hear that one. Below is a hyperlink to the Time story about it.

Does anyone think bullets are going to go down in price ever? Because this just seems crazy, like $5.00 a gallon gas here in California, or the great late 1990’s spike in cigar prices. This has to be a bubble.

Sorry I am not staying on topic. But this article was like a slap in the face.

    Great blog Joe,

  6. unless there were some sort of emergency that my failure to do so put them at risk of personal injury or extreme discomfort

I wouldn’t make that exception at all if being unarmed played any part in their risk or discomfort. That would just seem like just desserts at that point. As for being rude, I don’t think a sarcastic joke compares at all to the outright hostility they show towards gun owners.

  7. Weerd, you might need to learn a little more about Nathan Bedford Forrest. As for your overall point I agree wholeheartedly.

But do learn more about NBF, he wasn’t the monster he was painted.

  8. You may be correct straightarrow. I just wanted to drop a Klan analogy as we like to talk about those assholes here. The words of Forrest Gump stuck in my head.

Bah, Hanks was always better as a comic anyway, and Castaway was a total stinker of a film!

  9. Joe,

I took the thought of buying Starbucks coffee for Mr Hamm as a bit of good-natured ribbing, much as you might see between political ‘enemies’ all the way up to the national level, and not, incidentally, out of character for Sebastian to be cordial.

But that’s him …… I don’t think I could stand looking at any of those anti-gun folks very long, because in the back of my mind, I would be constantly reminded that it is they who wish to usher in the law of the jungle and leave us defenseless.

I can play law of the jungle ….. it’s not my first choice, but I can play.
