Guns in bars. No background checks at gun shows. No permits to carry required. No restrictions on how many guns a person may buy (in some cases now it’s one per month).
What Americans don’t seem to understand is how crazy they look to most of the rest of the world. The reason they don’t understand is because of their one-thought tyranny.
Americans are tyrannized by 1776, The Second Amendment, The Bill of Rights, The Constitution and other colonial-era artifacts. They have been brainwashed into believing that those are the only thoughts there are. This is not freedom. Freedom means having a choice. If they could accept that there are other ways of thinking then they would have a choice! That’s what freedom is about and what many, if not most, Americans don’t understand.

The Tyranny of the American Mind
[Tyrannized by The Bill of Rights? At first glance I thought it had to be satire. But no. I don’t think it is. I think it more closely represents something from Nineteen Eighty-Four:
WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.
It appears “Reasoned Discourse” has broken out in the comments.

Mr Johnson, it was those Colonial-era documents that helped give us focus, so that we could fight for the freedoms that we (and inclides YOU, Mr Johnson) have today. And as for any BRAINWASHING, the main scrubbing I see going on around here in in the leftist and union dominated school systems and other Big Gub’ment agencies and their minions.
No – What Mr D Johnson doesn’t seem to understand, is that Freedom-Loving Americans DO understand. We understand that you. too, have your freedom to choose to think your own thoughts. But that doesn’t mean that we have to listen to them or obey them if we choose not to. See, we, too, choose to have our own thoughts and way of thinking.
But we bitterly utterly resent having someone else’s thoughts, that we do not agree with, pushed on us, without our choice. And apparently, you, too, resent our choice to not choose to obey your thoughts. So, does that make us about equal?
In other words, f**k off, ya troll.
Those who agree with Mr. Johnson are, of course, free to move to another country that has a political value system more in line with their beliefs.

Terry – no worries, I find the article quite interesting, personally. And, impressively, Daniel actually let the comment through. Of course, he used the British Police Minister’s attempts to cover his ass as proof that the article was somehow inherently flawed.
Of course, the Police Minister does make a point – the numbers are not directly comparable, simply because England has a history of underreporting crime in order to make themselves look better. Go figure.
What it really seems to boil down to is that while we have choices, he doesn’t like the choices we make; and that makes us ‘terrorized’.
