Regardless of who should get the credit the idea is correct and people advocating for health care involvement by the government need to realize the terrible risk they are advocating we all take by giving the government control of our health. They can “give” but they can, and will, take it away as well.
Similar cases can be made for government involvement in weapons ownership, the banking industry, and just about anything the government was not given specific enumerated powers in the constitution.–Joe]
The case can easily be made for the things that are enumerated in the Constitution, as well.

After resisting for quite a while a friend (Sen Pam actually) finally got me to open a facebook page. There I have been found by many friends from college days and am finding out many of their attitudes about government haven’t changed a lot (mine have). Is it just me or is facebook a haven for drive by (ie thoughtless) comments and “younger then they actually are” statists? I am off topic aren’t I, I will slink silently away…
Boyd, I don’t see it as that far off topic. You are quite welcome to comment on whatever you think is relevant. My threshold before I ask someone to back off or start deleting their comments is extremely high.
The banking industry???!!!!!! Are you kidding? The government wasn’t involved in the banking industry for decades and decades and you can see how well they did without any government help if you just look back to the history of this country prior to 1935!
ubu52, When all the dust has settled after this crash lets see if government involvement in the banking industry was a net gain for our society or merely enabled a bigger crash at a huge expense to the taxpayers.
