Quote of the day–Sebastian

We’ve been through the Republican Revolution once already, and I don’t know if liberty could afford another.

[This is not to say the Democrats are any better at defending liberty. Just that the Republican party is not who you want to “take point” in the fight to restore it.–Joe]

  1. I don’t necessarily disagree, but is the Democratic Party the one we want to take point in the fight to restore Liberty? They have point now, and what are they doing with it? Neither party, taken as separate entities, are worth the effort to lance them (like the boils they are). There are individuals within each party that are worth more than that effort, as long as they don’t stay too long. Politicians, as a whole, will become corrupted by the power they wield.

  2. Parties cannot restore Liberty. Only free men and women can.

The whole point of the First and Second amendments was to protect us all against parties/governments/authorities.

What concerns me: how many people really truly would want to tear themselves away from Real Desperate Funniest Extreme Home Housewife Octuplet Videos…to do the work of restoring Liberty?

This way they get to sit on their asses, buy a t-shirt/bumper sticker, get all Hopeful (or in the case of the GOP, Angry), spew and Twitter, and then satisfy themselves that they Did Democracy.

  3. During the Reagan Administration a Democratic Congress and Republican Executive managed to balance the budget. During the Clinton Administration a Republican Congress and Democratic Executive managed to balance the budget.

When either party gains control of both the Legislature and the Executive they turn into horrendous spenders and stomp on the rights of citizens. In terms of citizens regaining control of our liberty it really is “divide and conquer”. By forcing Republicans and Democrats to fight each other they can’t gang up on us.
