The claims are a bit exaggerated but still it makes for an amusing presentation. It would be much more effective and cheaper than existing airplane security. But neither the government nor the general public are interesting in effective security. They only want the appearance of security. People are willing to spent billions on ineffective security but you don’t even hear a hint of something like the above as part of the solution. Why is that? Is “modesty” that important to people? Existing security has been repeatedly shown to be a complete sham yet people are not willing to do away with it for fear of an attack–yet they will not even consider doing something much cheaper that is effective.

[heavy sigh]

As I have said before, it’s irrational to expect people to be rational.–Joe]

  1. Oh yeah? Ask a prison guard how many shanks and pistols could be on that flight.

Hell, they are bringing in CELL PHONES that way. A little derringer or shiv is no problem at all.

  2. I didn’t make the claims that it would be “Terrorist Proof”. I know it is still mostly Security Theater but it would reduce the size and quantity of weapons more than are currently overlooked. I’m pretty sure I could still blow the plane up under those conditions.

I just find it amusing that people wouldn’t even consider such a thing even though it would be more effective and cheaper than what we have now.

  3. After the last airport experience when my wife flew with me, she suggested that all passengers be made to
    1). strip naked
2). all passengers are issued one each regulation Red Cross disaster blanket.
3). all passengers are issued one each regulation USMC M-9 bayonet or Ka-Bar.

All passengers would then collectively and individually be responsible for cabin security until disembarkation at their destination, when their bagged and stored clothing would be returned and they would turn in the blankets and knives.

Makes a little sense to me. I’ve been called ‘reactionary’, though.

    Regards,
    Rabbit.
